"All growth depends upon activity"

2 in a week? You guys must be lucky! :P
I'm back again, this time with a post that hits close to home. It's all derived from one, very simple word -

Activity
This one word is something that I have been having real issues with lately. Something that a lot of Internet Marketers will face in their careers, and something I thought I'd hep all those that suffer or will suffer with this financially painful affliction.
Spending 9-10 hours a day on my laptop at home can be really, really depressing. Some may say that earning a bunch of good money by sitting at home all day is the dream life but in reality it's really boring - Especially when you have a mixture of ADHD, Sugar based foods/drinks and a whole lot of energy you really can't harness to your full potential.

There's a few techniques I've found around this though, and I thought it'd be awesome if I could give you them here. I'll try to update this thread if I come up with any more as well!

Buy a Notebook -

Not the laptop kind. You know, pre-computers we had something called Paper? and a magical instrument that could ingrain ink onto it called a Pen.

I have a small notepad that I leave at my office/wherever I'm generally working (Though I do forget it quite a bit, especially when packing to go away) just to jot things on. This is where a lot of my sneaky link building posts have come from, I put down tactics that I can build links with.. Note down competitor's links and anything that interests me to look into/use at a later date.

Whenever I get bored of doing an OnPage or Link Building campaign or whatever it is I'm doing at the time but just getting really bored/ADHD mode kicking in, I'll open up the notebook and see if there are any cool tactics I can implement into this campaign. Just having little, fun things that bring back cool memories makes time flyby and increases my creativity/thinking + I've developed a ton more strategies from re-running these methods into new campaigns.

Play Video Games -

This sounds like the complete opposite of being active/creative, but you'd be surprised how much stress and effort is unleashed when dominating someone in a video game, especially one you really enjoy.

Multiplayer games like LoL/Dota and CoD/BF are always good.. Mainly because you can shout a load of abuse down the microphone at some 12 year old kid who doesn't know how to use the R key.

I'll just leave this here as "further evidence" -

Get Background Noise -

I've been a Spotify Premium Subscriber for close to 3 years. It helps SO much.

Being an Internet Marketer/SEO is really lonely, you sit on your own all day with no one else around you - Humans are naturally social, and it can become a depressing spiral as a lot of my SEO friends know.

There's a few things you can do -
  • Join a Community. Well, you're already here, so on the right track! Interacting with others, even if it's just on a Forum site or a Skype chat gives you that human interaction that you'd normally get from an office based 9-5.
  • Watch Stuffs! - For me, I dive into the world of the Phillip Defranco Show, SourceFed, The Young Turks, TEDTalks and LCS (League of Legends Championship Series). It gives me a chance to whip up some food, a drink and watch something that really interests me, educates me and gives me some form of interaction.. Even if it is just watching someone else speak whilst doing something.
  • Create Relationships - Good or bad, I have both friends in IM and Trolls that hate me.. But it gives me interaction that's actually emotional! weather it be someone giving you an ego boost on an achievement or someone flaming your Mum on Twitter, you still feel emotion towards that.

Thanks for the tips!

Been working from home for about 15 years now so know exactly where you are coming from!

I find the following helps:

- Schedule in regular outside activities. I swim 3 times a week from for a good 90 minutes which really sets you up for the day.
- If you can work in a space away from the house do it.  I have a separate office space above the garage which works really well, you can separate work/life much easier!
- Dont roll out of bed and sit around in jogging bottoms all day. Used to do this 'for comfort' but you end up getting in really lazy/sluggish ways.

Qix nailed it.

There's three things I do every day to keep myself on an even emotional keel:

1) Sport/Gym (namely rugby and yoga, although I've been doing a whole lot more of the latter since I did my back)

2) Shower/dress every day regardless of whether I'm working from home or not. Doesn't have to be anything crazy but even just throwing on a pair of dress shorts and a half-decent button down seems to help.

3) Face-to-face interaction with another human being at least once a day, every single day. Not to undermine your post at all Charles but Skype and Spotify won't do a lot for isolation-induced depression. Just get out and go face-to-face with someone, about anything for at least 15-20 minutes a day and you should notice a huge difference in your mood. It doesn't matter what you're talking about or what you're doing - just that you're doing it with another person.

Take your mum out for a cup of coffee if you can't find anyone else, seriously. She might have some stories you've never heard and I bet she misses the company you shared when you were younger (this is a general suggestion - not aimed at Charles, even if it does read that way).

Whether or not you think this shit is important is a moot point because your body/brain chemistry do.

1 - Think about someone you love each time you want to be productive that will boost your imagination to the roof.

2 - Take time when you think, from time to time we fear to take 10 min an think about anything that give us emotions or motivations.

3 - Notepad or a Filler Paper can be you best friend, but he don't keep secrets :) !
Just take and overload those papers like you have never before seen a Filler Paper ( release you ideas make your brain more able to think more).

4 - Use music as your feelings stream, I listen to all kind of music but I got a great soundtrack that makes me get active and improve my brain thinking and working cycle, also work more than I do the whole day just in one hour.

5 - Drink water a lot, do sport and take care of your health.

I got more but these are my main stuff I personally do.
